Position Summary: Together with the Clergy, Parish and Vestry, this position administrates, cultivates, and directs the programs of Christian Formation at Redeemer. The position is designed to provide a support system through leadership and presence for those who serve the educational dimension of our vision to love God and bring people to Christ.
Duties and Responsibilities: Being one who teaches and one who learns, and modeling and serving in those roles within the parish. Serving as a team member with clergy and with program and support staff by attending staff meetings, worship, retreats and special parish events. This includes coordinating with other ministries to create a cross-disciplinary approach to education and spiritual growth in the parish. Collaborating with clergy and staff to organize adult Christian formation and education programs, especially programs pertinent to singles, children, and families, along with special programs (e.g., Lenten studies and evening education classes). Supervising Children’s education, Children’s Chapel, Vacation Bible School, and special programs Recruiting, training, supporting, and supervising teachers Preparing the annual Christian Formation program budget (November) in consultation with the finance committee. Preparing the Christian Formation Report for the Annual Meeting (January) and the Parochial Report (February). Providing announcements for church publications and the church website for children’s and family events, evening and special programs, retreats and workshops. Providing resources and information to the parish on church-related conferences, camps and retreats, training programs and other educational events of interest to children and adults. Maintaining supplies, ordering curricula when necessary.
Position Status: This position is a part-time position totaling 20 hours/week. The Christian Formation Director will report to and be supervised by the Rector. The responsibilities and duties set forth in the descriptions of these positions are subject to addition, deletion, or amendment by the Rector.
